Reading Buddies
Skipping Challenge
As part of Active Schools, we are participating in a 10 minute skipping challenge each day. The children count and record their daily skips. 1 skip = 1 metre. They then fill in on a chart mountains that they have collectively climbed each day!

Third and Fourth Class performed this years Christmas play "Hoodwinked". They put on an amazing performance. Thank you to all who came to see it in the Centre. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!!

Biodiversity - Thank you to Nuala who came to teach the children about a local habitat called "The Grand Canal". The children had great fun learning about the history of the canal and the different plants and animals living in this habitat!!

This Wednesday the 20/01/21, we will be holding a class zoom. Third class will begin their Zoom Class at 10:30am and Fourth class will begin their Zoom Class at 11:00am. The purpose of the Zoom class is a chance to see our friends again and have a little chat. This week’s Zoom class will be a little chat on Our Christmas Holidays. So you might have prepared maybe a couple of sentences about your favourite part of the holiday for e.g. It might be that you got to cycle your new bike that you got from Santa. I will have sent on parent’s documents such as Zoom Class etiquette and Parental Consent forms via email. Please read these documents with your parents. The parental consent form can be photographed when signed and emailed or seesawed to me (Parents -If you have more than one pupil in school- please only send one consent and put all pupil’s names on it).

Welcome back Children and Parents, I hope you had a lovely Christmas Holiday and a Happy New Year to you all. We are once again staying and learning at home for public health reasons. We thank you again for your continued cooperation during these difficult times. Please God we will be back to school at the start of February.
I will be setting school work each week which will be downloaded on to the school’s website on a Sunday evening. - Download the app "Seesaw Class" on to your phone or tablet. (if you have this app already downloaded from the previous school term…please look for log out button and log out) Sign in again.
- Click on I am a student.
- Scan QR Code or type in text code (this is has been resent to your parents email).
- Click on Activities.
- Beside each activity you will see a set of instructions- follow instructions to complete activity – first instruction is Add Response.
- When you have completed the activity – Tap on green tick to add it to your journal and wait for teacher approval and feedback.
- Remember any work you post can only be viewed and approved by the teacher.
- Check your inbox- for feedback from teacher.

Week 13 – A Big Thank You and Best Wishes message to My Third and Fourth Class.
Hello Children –I just want to thank you for all your hard work during Covid -19. You all did a fantastic job. I was really impressed with how you engaged with Seesaw and for sending me on all the wonderful work you completed at home. I want to thank the Mammies and Daddies for helping out with home schooling. I really appreciate all the hard work and effort you put into developing a routine at home and for helping your children complete school work and other fun activities. A big well done to you all!!
I want to say a special goodbye to my fourth class. You have been a great class, and you will be sadly missed by me and your fellow Third Class. I know that you will continue to do well in Fifth Class and I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
Finally, I want to wish everyone a safe and happy summer holiday. I hope to see you all back in school during the start of next term.

- Links to daily activities on a fundamental movement skill e.g. throwing. When you click on the link – there are three activities (videos) of a person/people carrying out that skill e.g. throwing. Pick one and keep practicing until you have mastered the skill at home! You can then take a picture or video of yourself completing the activity and send it on to your teacher via Seesaw or email.
- Scavenger Hunt – There are two scavenger hunts to choose from – Pick one and have fun completing it with family or friends at home!
- Ms White’s Tik Tok Challenge!! Copy and take a video of yourself completing this challenge with a family member or friend.
- KM Challenge (Monday – Friday) – Record (write down) how many KM you walk, jog or cycle each day!! Add them up at the end of the week and submit your results to the teacher via Seesaw or Email.
- FAI – Home Skills Challenge - The FAI Grassroots have been posting up weekly HOMESKILLS videos on Facebook/Instagram/Twitter– every weekday at 11am. Each day they invite viewers to submit their own video of performing the skill for the chance to win an FAI goodie bag!

Suggested Fun Activities for Emergency School Closure: Week 11 - 08/06/20 - 12/06/20
Hello Children, hope you all had a lovely relaxing weekend. This week I am setting just one fun activity per day. There will be no Seesaw activities. Please, please listen to the You Tube videos on Water Safety (7 minute video) and Sun Safety (3 minute video). Paws have a lovely picture book that you can access online that goes through all the rules around Water Safety. I will leave instructions below on how to access this book. It is really important that we adhere to Water Safety Rules and Sun Safety Rules as this information will keep us safe and well especially during the sunny weather!!
A big thank you to anyone who sent me pictures of their children completing different activities during the pandemic. If parents have not sent me on a picture of their child completing an activity (e.g. playing outside, baking, gardening, completing school activities etc). Please do so at [email protected]. I will be displaying these pictures on the Third and Fourth Class page on the schools website.
Finally, thank you to all those children who completed “My Covid -19 Journey” activity (see Monday’s activity from last week) and for sending me a picture of their completed work. If you haven’t…don’t worry, there is still time to send it to me this week. The school intends to make a book using images of these completed activities. So It is important that your completed activity is a part of this book!
